Rasterize — Tool (QGIS)

In QGIS: Processing Toolbox › Vector conversion › Rasterize (vector to raster) (gdal:rasterize); menu: Raster › Conversion › Rasterize (Vector to Raster).

Realises:

Settings that matter

  • A fixed value to burn (e.g. 1) or Field to use for a burn-in value.
  • Output raster size units: Georeferenced units with width and height 10 gives 10 m cells.
  • Output extent: set it, or the raster ends at the features’ own extent.

Watch out

  • A cell is burned only when its centre is inside the polygon, so features narrower than a cell (a 5 m hedge in 10 m cells) can be lost. Add -at (all touched) under Additional command-line parameters, or use smaller cells.

Checked in QGIS 4.2.2, October 2026. Names and options can differ in other versions.
