Abstract
Electronic Navigational Charts (ENC) er defineret som en database, som er standardiseret hvad angår indhold, struktur og format til brug i Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS). ENC skal indeholde alle de kortinformationer, som er nødvendig for sikker navigation og kan desuden indeholde supplerende informationer (udover de i papirsøkortet indeholdte, fx sejladsanvisninger), som kan anses som nødvendige for sikker navigation. Navigatøren har brug for at få vist alt fra detaljerede kort til brug for anduvning af havne til forenklede kort til brug for sejlads i åben sø eller sejladsplanlægning. ENC celler er produceret i 6 detaljeringsgrader: Overview, General, Coastal, Approach, Harbour og Berthing
