Join attributes by location — Tool (QGIS)

In QGIS: Processing Toolbox › Vector general › Join attributes by location (native:joinattributesbylocation); menu: Vector › Data Management Tools › Join Attributes by Location.

Realises:

Settings that matter

  • Features they (geometric predicate): the spatial relation, read as [Join to features in] [relation] [By comparing to]. Points first and zones second: “dwellings are within roder” (or intersect). See Spatial relations.
  • Join type: one-to-many, first matching feature only (one-to-one), or largest overlap only (one-to-one).

Watch out

  • One-to-many creates a copy of a feature for every match, so counts and areas can double. Use one-to-one unless you mean it.

Checked in QGIS 4.2.2, October 2026. Names and options can differ in other versions.
