Urban design
Urban design works with the form of places: buildings, streets and spaces, usually in three dimensions and at the scale of a site and its surroundings. GIS supplies the context — terrain, buildings, parcels, plans — that a design is drawn into and shown against.
Typical questions
- What does a site and its context look like in three dimensions?
- How high are the surrounding buildings, and how would a new one fit?
- How can a design be shown to people who do not read plans?
