Count points in polygon — Tool (QGIS)

In QGIS: Processing Toolbox › Vector analysis › Count points in polygon (native:countpointsinpolygon); menu: Vector › Analysis Tools › Count Points in Polygon.

Realises:

• Summary by location — with count, or sum with a weight field

Settings that matter

• Weight field: the field is summed instead of counting points.
• Class field: counts the number of different values in each polygon, not how many points have each value.
• Count field name: the name of the new field.

Watch out

• It gives only one count or sum per run. For means, medians or several fields at once, use Join attributes by location (summary) (Tool - QGIS).
