Join attributes by location (summary) — Tool (QGIS)

Realises:
Settings that matter
- Join to features in: the zones (they get the new fields). By comparing to: the points.
- Where the features: the spatial relation, read as a sentence: [Join to features in] [relation] [By comparing to]. With zones first and points second, “roder contain boliger” is right; are within would ask whether a rode lies within a point, and every zone gets 0 without a warning. Ticking several boxes means or.
- Points in zones: contain or intersect. A point exactly on a shared border is counted in both zones with intersect and in neither with contain; touch finds such points.
- Polygons in zones (buildings, fields): intersect counts a polygon across a border in both zones, contain in neither.
- All the relations, with tested examples: Spatial relations.
- Fields to summarise: only the fields you need; empty means all fields.
- Summaries to calculate: count, unique, min, max, range, sum, mean, median, stddev, minority, majority, q1, q3, iqr, … Output fields are named
<field>_<summary>, e.g.samlet_areal_mean. - Discard records which could not be joined: leave unticked, or zones without points disappear from the map.
Watch out
- The mean of a 0/1 indicator field is a share: summarise
udlejetwith mean to get the share rented. - Check that the counts add up to the number of points; points outside every zone are silently left out.
